Being the largest stadium in Scandinavia, Friends Arena attracts millions of people every year. Find the best way to get here and where to spend the night in our guide to everything close to Friends Arena.
In Solna, about eight kilometers north of Stockholm city center, you find Friends Arena – a multi-purpose stadium that opened its doors to the public in 2012. The venue holds a number of large concerts and events every year, and is also the national stadium for men’s football in Sweden. Friends Arena has a capacity of 65,000 people at concerts and 50,000 seated during sporting events, and right by the arena you also find the largest shopping center in Sweden – Mall of Scandinavia.
If you want to find a hotel near Friends Arena there are a number of different options to choose from in the surrounding area. A couple of the hotels are located right by the stadium, while most of the options require a bit of walking. To see all available options we recommend that you have a look at our page dedicated to hotels near the stadium – follow the link below and compare all hotels.
Since Friends Arena isn’t located in the central parts of Stockholm, many people reach it by public transport. The most convenient option is to choose the commuter train, which only takes seven minutes from Stockholm City. In this case you get off at Solna Station and have a walk of about ten minutes to the arena. You can also get here by metro from the central parts of Stockholm. The metro station is located a little bit further from Friends Arena, and you will need to walk for about 15-20 minutes to get there.
If you can avoid driving to Friends Arena, we strongly recommend that you leave the car at home. This is because the parking possibilities around the arena aren’t great – the best option is found at Mall of Scandinavia nearby but the spots tend to fill up quickly during big events. Going by public transportation is definitely the best option in this case.
Note! In July Friends Arena will change its name to Strawberry Arena.
